5.2. Density of population

Population density is a measurement of population per unit area or unit volume. It is frequently applied to living organisms, and most of the time to humans. It is a key geographical term.
Population density depends on:
- interactions with the environment
- quality of habitats

It is calculated using the formula:
number of indiviuals : area (m2) = density
